Welcome back. We continue with selected Experimental Radio actions from the last several months; plus the latest FCC developments concerning shortwave High-Frequency Trading stations.

Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

WN2XEX was issued to Harvard’s Galileo Project, for a 9.41 GHz radar at Robert Moses State Park, Long Island, NY. It investigates “the nature and technology of unknown air traffic currently occupying the local air space near the Robert Moses Shoreline,” the project told the FCC.

“The experimental side of the research uses a technology platform of short range radar, RF Spectrum Analyzers, Magnetometers, Radiometric Lightwave analyzer and Ultrasonic detection system,” the project said. “The purpose of radar is to determine whether these unknowns have a solid radio reflection, which we have been using after receiving the temporary experimental license [WU9XGR - Editor].

“We have been granted an extended New York State Park permit though 2023, to continue this research. To date, we have identified a large number of Drone activity, but have not been able to identify objects representing Rotating Cubes.”
